From 4 – 6 April 2023 the partners of the Storytooling project met for the very first time in Lens, France, to discuss the workplan for the upcoming two years as well as the roles and responsibilities of each of the give partner organisations. Storytooling is about creating new heritage narratives by involving young people from post-industrial and rural areas in a co-design approach.

The project which is funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union is coordinated by Pas-de-Calais Tourisme, Mission ALL Autour du Louvre-Lens (France) and works together with Europimpulse (Spain), Le Grand Hornu (Belgium), the University of Evora (Portugal) and the Tunis International Center For Digital Culture Economy (Tunisia).

The territories of all Storytooling partners have in common the need to implement projects aimed at the social integration of unemployed and/or out-of-school young people and the creation of new opportunities to prevent these young people from leaving their rural/post-industrial areas. All partners have worked with young people in the past and have been involved in projects in the fields of education, training and community building. They wish to develop the entrepreneurial spirit of the participants through cultural and creative actions that enhance the attractiveness of their territories.

We will work hand-in-hand with these young people to revitalise these rural and post-industrial areas and to create new narratives that make the territories more attractive for them, as well as for potential visitors and tourists. The aim is to raise awareness of Europe’s important post-industrial and rural heritage which has shaped and transformed the territory into what it is today.
